Phillip submitted his application to Northrop Grumman with hopes that he would receive one of the scholarships given by them... Here is what he wrote as his goals:
My career goals are to finish up with my bachelors of Science in both Biology and Chemistry and then attend medical school at either Harvard Medical or John Hopkins Medical School. After medical school I plan to peruse a career as a Trauma Surgeon. I have worked in the field of emergency medicine (as an EMT) and have developed a real passion for emergency medicine and the idea of helping people. When I was a Fire Fighter, I was in the position to see people at their worst whether they had just lost their home, had been in a car accident or if they had a loved one who was sick. It was a great feeling knowing I was someone who was there and lent a helping hand. Science amazes me and I am hoping to continue gaining the knowledge and the wisdom that a career in medicine can offer me in order to pursue my goals with regards to emergency medicine. I also hope to contribute to the development of research in acute patient care, applying outcomes to practices with commitment to promoting exemplary patient care This is my goal…this is my dream…
