Phyllis A. Horton Manley's Obituary
Phyllis A. Horton Manley, age 73, of Leesburg, Virginia, and a native of Chatham County entered eternal rest peacefully on December 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born on September 13, 1950, in Siler City, NC to the late Tyree Horton and Gertrude Horton. Phyllis was the oldest of five siblings. She has one sister, Hope Horton Welsh; brothers, Newby, Keith, and Byron.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother Newby and Keith. Phyllis lived in Leesburg, Virginia with her husband, James Manley. She was baptized at an early age and has been steadfast in serving the Lord throughout her life. She was one of the pioneer African American women who went on to become a driver instructor with the Greyhound Bus Lines. She retired from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority after serving 21 years as a Mobile Lounge Operator at Dulles International Airport. She was a member of the First Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Leesburg, Virginia.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wesley's Chapel Christian Fellowship Church cemetery located at 11449 US-64, Siler City, NC 27344.
