Rachel Broom's Obituary
RACHEL BROOM, 87, a life long resident of Leesburg died on Thursday, April 26, 2009 in Leesburg. Mrs. Broom was born April 14, 1922 in Leesburg to the late Robert and Amanda Calvary Coe. Her husband Haywood Broom Sr. also predeceased her. Mrs. Broom was a housekeeper for Father Barron with St. John the Apostle Catholic Church during the early 1970’s. She was a member and past secretary of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Broom was a past president of the Douglas Elementary PTA. She loved to play Pokeno, Bingo and the Wee.
Mrs. Broom is survived by her beloved five children: Robert Jackson of Conway, SC, Mae Ellen Marlow of Aurora, CO, Amanda Williams of Charlotte, NC, Haywood Broom Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Anita Henry of Martinsburg, WV; one sister: Fannie Ann Pollard of Leesburg, VA; one brother: Albert Bernard Coe of Purcellville, VA; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Providence Baptist Church, 205 Church Street, Leesburg, VA on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 from 9:00am until the time of services at 10:30am. Rev. Herbert C. Love and Rev. E. Allen Stewart will be presiding. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
