RACHEL ELIZABETH BUSH's Obituary
"... well done good and faithful servant, you have been faithful and trustworthy over a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come share in the joy of your Lord."
Matthew 25:23
Rachel Elizabeth Harris Bush departed this life on June 29th, 2022. Rachel was born on October 13th, 1936. She was the sixth and youngest child of Ada Lovinggood Harris and William Harris. She was a lifelong resident of Loudon County, residing the last thirty-five years in Leesburg with her husband Lloyd. Rachel was educated in Loudoun County Public Schools. She attended Douglass High School. Rachael developed friendships in high school that have withstood the joys and challenges of life. After Douglass, Rachel provided cleaning services at Philips Motel and other residential homes. After her marriage to Lloyd Bush, Rachel was a stay-at-home wife and mother to her son, Gregory. During this time, she also provided care for several great nieces and nephews. In 1986, Rachel reluctantly accepted a temporary position at KENROB Information Technologies. That temporary position lasted for more than twenty-five years. She was the recipient of many accolades and compliments for her professionalism and kindness. Rachel and Lloyd were exceptional godparents to godsons Paul and Mark Robinson. They never missed baseball, soccer, or football games. They attended every major event . . . birthday parties, graduations, and weddings. They encouraged and celebrated each milestone. They volunteered as chaperones and drivers on field trips at Mt. Zion Methodist’s Second Chance Program. When Paul, Mark and Alexis, her great niece had children, Rachel would volunteer at Wee Kids Daycare. Rachel found immense joy in caring for children. She loved holding and rocking the babies and was kind and patient with all the children. During later years, Rachel and Lloyd were known for their weekend drives. They would often pick up Violet, Rachel's sister. They would ride for hours on a Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes they would stop at flea markets, but often just ride, explore various towns and cities or just enjoy the scenery. The three of them always shared the adventures of those trips. Rachel was an avid reader. She believed books could take her anywhere. She loved going to 18th century England with novels by British author Catherine Cookson. She loved discovering new Cookson books. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents, her sisters Susie, Mary, and Violet; and brothers William and John. She leaves to cherish her memories, son Gregory (Rose) of Sterling; Godsons, Paul and Mark Robinson; Cousins, LaNoah Harriston (Harold), Jackie Lovinggood, Roberta Keller of Washington, DC; brother-law Paul Jackson of Leesburg VA; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Rachel's high school friends will hold on to the fond memories that they created.
Rachel had a life well lived and the love she shared with us remains.
