Radhey Krishna Khetan's Obituary
Radhey Krishna Khetan passed away on October 14, 2022, after a short stay at Potomac Falls Health & Rehab Center in Sterling, Virginia.
Radhey was born on January 5, 1931, in India, and was the second youngest of five children born to Sagar Mal Khetan and Ratni Devi Khetan, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Lakhisarai, Bihar, India, where he was renowned as the handsomest of men. At the age of 18, he married Shanti Devi his bride of 75 years who preceded him in death last year.
After his marriage, he left Lakhisarai to go to college to further his education. However, a short time later he left because he missed aloo sabzi so much—and his bride, too—that he returned home. Throughout his life he appreciated good food and even in the last year of his life his sense of taste and smell remained strong, with homemade Indian food bringing a smile to his face.
Radhey was also a very disciplined man. He followed the ayurvedic approach to eating. Even as his eyesight failed him, he continued to exercise up until the last months of his life. In the 1990s, he became a devotee of Radha Soami Satsang Beas and offered his prayers daily. While he was a mostly stoic and quiet man, he shared moments of levity while reminiscing about the past and vulnerability while pondering his future.
He migrated to the US in 1985 to provide his family new opportunities. He was proud to see his family grow and fondly thought of his 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Vishal, Preety, Amit, Ekta, Sparsh, Nishant, Anurag, Nikeeta, Utkarsh, Gaurav, and Udit. Great grandchildren: Akarsh, Krishnaa, Neel, Karina, Ishaan, Tarini, Aakash, and Aarav.
Survivors include sons Binod Khetan (Suman) of Ghatsila, India; Prakash Khetan (Sunita, previously deceased) of Bowie, Maryland; and Sunil Khetan (Reeta) of Clarksville, Maryland; and daughters Sudha Tulsian (Bhagwati) of Potomac Falls, VA; and Sushma Singhal (Naresh) of Aligarh, India.
Services will be held on Monday, October 17, at 2:00 p.m., at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, Virginia 20175.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Radha Soami Satsang Beas or other charitable organization of your choosing.
