Raymond Elmo Deskins Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond E. Deskins Jr, affectionately (Tucker) PopPop, of Lewes, Delaware, died unexpectedly in his sleep the morning of April 5, 2024, in Potomac Falls, Virginia. He was eighty-seven years young.
Born January 25, 1937, in Washington, DC, he went to Henry E. Lackey High School and then studied at George Washington University where he graduated with a degree in Accounting. He married the love of his life, (who preceded him in death) Patricia A Gotshall on June 14, 1958. They raised their three children Raymond III, Glenn and Tracey in Maryland City. Ray was one of the Founding Members of the Maryland City Fire Department and was at one time the President and Fire Chief of the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department, Company 27.
Pat and Ray retired and moved to Lewes, DE where Ray became very involved in his amateur radio clubs where he volunteered at large event and during times of crisis and extreme weather conditions. When he’s not helping former neighbors or volunteering, you can expect to find him road tripping around DelMarVa or up and down the East Coast to be with his family across the states.
Ray was the son of Evelyn Malvina Scott Deskins and Raymond E. Deskins, Sr. He is survived by his sister Jo Lyon, sons Ray III (Mary Jo) and Glenn Deskins (Maritza), daughter Tracey Endrusick, eight (8) grandchildren (Melissa, Ray IV, Glenn, Kathleen, Samantha, Ashley, Joe, and Maria) and five (5) great-grandchildren (Mischief, Jinx, Cali, Charlie and Mason).
