RAYMOND B. JEWELL's Obituary
Raymond Jewell, 78, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 12, 1943 in Culpeper, Virginia to the late Raymond A. and Ruth G. Jewell. From a young age he lived his entire life in Loudoun County.
Raymond graduated from Loudoun County High School “Class of 1963” in Leesburg, Virginia. He was employed as a meat-cutter at Safeway Stores, Inc. for 41 years. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and high school sweetheart of 57 years, Gail L. Jewell, of Hamilton, Virginia; his son Kevin B. Jewell and wife, Brenda of Leesburg, Virginia; his grandchildren, Seth (Casey) Jewell, Andrew (Brice) Jewell, Adam Jewell, and Sarah Jewell; his great-grandchildren, Jax and Adelyn Jewell and twin girls due in July 2022.
Survivors also include his siblings Macy Santmyer, Thelma Johnson (Clarence) and Marguerite Santmyer, (James) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Jewell; sister, Helen Frye; brother-in-law, Paul Santmyer and infant great-granddaughter Kinsley Kay Jewell.
Raymond was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church, Hamilton, VA for 53 years where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and also participated in activities in the church over many years. He served his community as a firefighter with the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He enjoyed working in the yard and “piddling” in his garage. He enjoyed carpentry and was also a “Mr. Fix it.”
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and family. He was always available at a moments notice to assist them in any way when needed. He especially enjoyed attending sporting events and school activities. He was truly a family man!
The family will receive friends and family for a visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with the funeral service following. Services will be held at Hamilton Baptist Church located at 16 East Colonial Highway, Hamilton, Virginia.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, North Laycock Street, Hamilton, Virginia.
