Raymond Pollard's Obituary
Mr. Raymond Wesley Pollard, Sr., 50 years at Locust Hill Farm, Leesburg, departed this life June 2, 2006 at about 4 pm at his home at Locust Hill. He was born December 17, 1922 to the late Carrie Pollard. He was raised by his maternal grandparents Walter and Martha Pollard.
He joined the Army in November 30, 1942, where he received the following decorations as PFC: the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal; the Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68, and the Victory Medal.
He met and married Grace Alma Bryant in 1942, whom preceded him in death March 2000. In 1946 he moved his family to his new job at Locust Hill Farm where he was a faithful and productive employee until this year.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Stella McFadden of Washington, D.C., Carrie Corum of Leesburg, VA, Elsie Menefee of Leesburg, VA, 3 sons: Raymond Jr. of Purcellville, VA, Alfred Pollard of Sterling, VA, Anthony Pollard of Salem, VA; sixteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mr. Pollard predeceased by a daughter Carolena Townsend I n 2004, a brother: Earl Dixon Pollard, and two son-in-laws: Ronal Townsend and Harold Menefee.
Friends may call on Friday, June 9, 2006 from 7 to 9 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mount Olive Baptist Church, Loudoun Street, Leesburg, VA.
Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Lucketts, Virginia.
