Raymond Arthur Reay's Obituary
Of Leesburg, Va. passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, January 13, 2014, three days short of his 70th birthday.
Ray was born to the late Enlo and Margaret Reay on January 16, 1944 in San Diego, Ca.
He served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran. Following his military service, he worked for North American Aviation where he was proud to have worked on the Apollo 11 space capsule. Later he began his career as a machinist developing his working skills at various machine shops. He spent most of his years at Dowty Aerospace, in Sterling, Va. There he worked on flight landing gear and served as president of their union. His career was concluded at Alban Caterpillar in Winchester, Va from which he retired in August, 2012.
Ray was very active throughout his adult life, his passion being the outdoors. He enjoyed many of his years hunting, fishing, archery shooting, bike riding and playing paintball. He was a long time member of the Isaac Walton League. Once retired, he continued his active life fishing, playing basketball at Ida Lee Park, bike riding with his wife on the W&OD trail and spending quality time with his family.
Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tula Zazanis Reay of Leesburg, Va, and his children Randy and Bobby Reay, also of Leesburg. Also are children Christopher Reay, Pamela Reay and Alison Anderson of southern California.
A visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, Va. followed by a reception at the Vintage 50 restaurant.
