Reginald B. Evans Sr.'s Obituary
Reginald Berry Evans, Sr. of Leesburg, Virginia was born on February 23, 1949 in Middleburg, Virginia. He passed away at INOVA Loudoun Hospital on Thursday, November 16, 2017 after a short illness.
He attended Loudoun County public schools, including Douglass High School and Loudoun County High School. He was an honors student and standout on the basketball court. As a senior, he led LCHS to its first District championship in 1967.
In 1972, he became a member of the Leesburg Police Department, making him the first black policeman on the town’s force. He ended his police career as a Sergeant in 1980.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2007. In 2016, he was inducted into the Loudoun County High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Karen Evans; (4) children: Diane Evans Coates (Rodney); Adrienne Ashton Evans; Reginald Berry Evans Jr. (Kimberely); and Davida Kay Evans; (11) Grandkids: Lyndsey; Shanell; Amber; Daryn; Tyriek; Shaughnessy; Katelyn; Dashawn; Tristyn; Christian; Kyan (3) Great-Grands: Imani, Amari and Lyric; Sister: Barbara Anne Scott; (2) Aunts: Alise B. Cook and Evelyn Brooks (Norman); Sister-in-Law: Henrietta L. Evans, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many close friends.
Family & Friends Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel & Crematory 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at First Mount Olive Baptist Church 216 Loudoun Street SW, Leesburg, VA 20175 at 11:00 am.
Donations, in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Loudoun County High School Athletic Booster Club.
