Rhett Preston Peters Taylor's Obituary
Rhett Preston Peters Taylor passed away on August 4, 2013 at Falcons Landing Retirement Community in Sterling, VA at the age of 90.
Rhett was born on January 20, 1923 in Lynchburg, VA, the daughter of Dr. Don Preston and Rhett Mencke Peters. She graduated from Randolph Macon Woman’s College in 1944 and after graduation went to work for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (now NASA). She married Air Force pilot and Lehigh graduate Capt. Robert (Bob) Taylor in 1945.
The Taylors moved often during Bob’s career including assignments in The Hague, Holland and Madrid, Spain.
Rhett’s professional career was in personnel management and banking. She lived in New Jersey for 20 years followed by 13 years in Southern California before moving to Falcons Landing in 1998.
Rhett is survived by her two children, Robert Taylor of Sterling, VA and Lt. Col USAF (Ret) Rhett Taylor of Yorktown, VA along with her beloved grandchildren Katie and Matthew and daughter in law, Sue.
Rhett will be interred at a private family ceremony at St. John’s Church in Lynchburg.
