Nicholas Dean Skaltsounis
Rich and I were officers together at Fort Meade for about a year prior to heading to Vietnam. He was three days older than me. We developed a quick, but all too brief friendship. When away from our duties, we played chess and talked about Walter Reed student nurses. That year at Fort Meade was "make work" by the US Army for all of us were biding our time until deployment to Vietnam. I remember Rich as bright, witty, industrious, and well grounded. In that regard I am not surprised by his wonderful and fulfilling life. My condolences to all his family. Farewell good buddy.
