Richard Anthony McGee's Obituary
RICHARD ANTHONY MCGEE, 54, of Fairfax, Virginia passed away peacefully after his struggle with cancer at Fair Oaks Hospital. Dauntlessly by his side were his beloved daughters, Melissa and Katherine. With a multitude of friends surrounding him in his final walk, he passed over on May 10, 2009 at 7:40 am. He joined his loving sister, Marianne Hicks, who passed away four days earlier from cancer. He was a special gift to the twelve step community, having hit bottom and seen the light (unfortunately it was red and flashing). He got clean on 3/28/01, and dedicated the remainder of his life to helping others through their recovery. In 2004, he was elected Chairman of the Board for Edge Hill Retreat Recovery Center in Winchester, VA. He was infamous for leading a beginner’s meeting, where his quick tongue and command of the obvious pierced many a thick skull. Next to his family and friends, his passion in life was golf, which he incorporated into his love for the program by establishing the Edge Hill Golf Tournament. He was a successful businessman in the car industry who loved his work. He achieved his ultimate goal by starting Dealers Trade Outlet, where he last hung his hat. His two beloved daughters, Melissa and Katherine; his two siblings, Carolyn and Hugh; his grandson, Treson and an abundance of extended family and friends survive Rick. Rick continues to live on through the countless number of lives he touched during his 54 years. Friends may call on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Holiday Inn at the Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club, 111 Hospitality Drive, Front Royal, VA from 4 to 6 pm with light refreshments. Memorial Service on the green at 6pm. (NO Heels, bring flip flops). For information contact Katherine at 703-850-5255.
