Richard William Gunning's Obituary
Richard Gunning, age 86, of Sterling, Virginia, formerly of Dayton, OH, died on Thursday January 17, 2008 in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Gunning was born August 17, 1921 in Covington, KY to the late William M. and Nora Hanrahan Gunning. His daughter Gayle Gunning, two brothers, Robert and Thomas, and one sister Lois Gunning also predeceased him. Mr. Gunning served his county in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1983 from Top Value Enterprises of Dayton, OH after 20 years. In retirement Mr. Gunning volunteered as a crossing guard for Algonkian Elementary School.
Mr. Gunning is survived by his wife Stella; a son David; and daughter-in-law Karen all of Sterling; 2 grandsons, Jonathan of Sterling, and Justin of Boston, MA; and a brother Jack Gunning of Ludlow, KY.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, January 24th at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington, KY. Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Friday January 25th in Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Dayton, OH.
