Robert "Earl" Dungan's Obituary
Robert “Earl” Dungan, 88, of Leesburg, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his residence.
He was born to the late Robert Lee Dungan and Lottie Jane Headley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Earl S. Rich and son, Michael Taylor.
Earl was a World War II Navy veteran that served on the USS Young destroyer. Following his service in the Navy, he worked for the National Naval Medical Center until his retirement in 1982. He then worked 16 years for the National Humane Education Society as the manager of its Peace Plantation Animal Sanctuary in Walton NY. He had a love for competitive water skiing and tennis and was a volunteer for the National Ski Patrol.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ginger Briggs Dungan; children, Catherine Fox and James Taylor; sister, Grace Elizabeth Ryan and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel with Pastor Louis Schwebius officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
