Robert Joseph Holden Jr.'s Obituary
ROBERT (Bob) JOSEPH HOLDEN, Jr., 80, of Sterling, Virginia passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He passed away from lung cancer.
Born Monday, January 14, 1946, in Washington, D.C. to the late Gloria and Robert Holden Sr.
Bob is survived by his loving family, his wife of 50 years Michele Holden, Son William (Brad) Holden, Daughter in-Law Aimee Hollenhorst, Grandson Will Holden, Granddaughter Claire Holden, Brother in-Law Michael Joyce, Sister in-Law Ann Joyce, Nephews Doug Doyle, Damian Doyle, Dan Doyle, Dustin Doyle, Alain Tarroza, Niece Lauren Ehler and Bob’s Dog, Lucy, along with many other family members and dear friends. Bob and Michele’s beloved daughter, Kelly, passed away in 1993 at the age of 10.
Bob was retired from United Airlines where he was employed in the Sterling Reservation Center providing travel agency support and worked on special projects. Previously, he was employed at Pepco in Washington, D.C.
From 1966 to 1970, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was assigned to the base’s hospital and helped with patient care.
Bob’s passion was his family. Over the years, he enjoyed coaching Loudoun County Little League Football, traveling to Hawaii and golfing. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and Commanders. He exuded strength, confidence, and a charming, charismatic presence.
Military services will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Culpeper National Cemetery located at 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA 22701.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Make a Wish Foundation in Bob’s honor.
