Rick Yaeger
We were such good friends in our childhood. I still have so many fond memories of you and the rest of the Hoye family. I think the best one is your Frankenstein and my Werewolf at the fire hydrant across the street from the Hoye home on Briarwood. I remember us being at the fire hydrant another time and you telling a little boy on his tricycle his name was Booger and whenever we asked him his name after that he said 'Booger' and we laughed so hard we would roll on the ground trying to catch a breath. I remember trading you a small electric engine I had for some candles you had and our Parents making us 're-trade' it back. I remember us watching 'Nightmare' on Saturday nights with my sisters and your Brothers Timothy and Michael all scrunched together on the 'boat sofa' in my room on Brookhollow. We went through so many bags of caramels and so many sodas as we watched those wonderful Horror movies! I remember us spending the night at my house or yours and staying up after midnight so many times. I remember when Christopher was born and for some reason, I laughed thinking that was a funny name and you got mad but only for a short time. I remember when Margaret was born and thinking what a cute little baby she was. I remember us being 'Explorers' so many times, catching fish and crawdads in the creek behind your house and using flashlights to walk though 'The Cave' which was the drainage pipe which went from S. 5th Street all the way up to the east end of Delano Dr. I remember one time we made torches to light the way going through 'The Cave', They ignited some natural gas and we ran for our lives! I remember one time you tied one end of a rope to your bike and the other end to my wagon and pulled me around at a high rate of speed. That was so much fun until we went between your house and the house next door. We were going so fast the wagon tipped over, I fell out and received a very deep gash on my arm right below the elbow courtesy of some metal edging at the house next door.! ran to my house with you in pursuit. We ran through the door, my mom saw it and passed out! She was never good at the sight of blood.
I could go on and on and on about those times my friend, my Brother. Suffice it to say that you and the entire Hoye Family are forever imbedded in my heart, mind and Soul. I am deeply saddened to hear of your demise.
Hopefully, one day, I shall see you again...God willing. ~ RCY
