Robert John Klancher, Jr.'s Obituary
Robert (Bob) Klancher, 57, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on May 4th, 2016. He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Janet Klancher and loving father to his children, Victoria Hickman (Cory Hickman), Bobby Klancher, Catherine Klancher, and Jacqueline Klancher. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Olga Klancher of Willoughby, OH and his father-in-law, James Wiencek of Uniontown, OH. He is also survived by his brother, John Klancher and family, of Grove City, OH and many other family members.
Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 2, 1958. He graduated from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, OH. Bob continued his education at the University of Cincinnati where he earned a Bachelor in Architecture degree. While at UC, he was elected and served as the President of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) from 1982-1983. He graduated in 1984 with honors and was the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi Medal. The medal is presented to a graduating senior who has exemplified leadership, service and professional merit.
Bob was a resident of Ashburn, VA where he served as a Loudoun County Planning Commissioner from 2004 until his death. He left a legacy of leadership and civic service. As a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Bob served as a lector and as an advisor on the building committee for the church. As a Senior Partner with Interplan Inc. for over 23 years, Bob was a mentor and friend to many.
The visitation will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA on May 9th, 2016 at 6 to 8 pm. A visitation will also be held at the church prior to the service from 11-12noon.
Mass of Chrisitan burial will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21370 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at noon. A visitation will also be held prior to the mass from 11-12noon. Interment to follow at St. John the Apostle Cemetery, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive, Leesburg, VA.
A memorial in Bob’s honor is being developed through the National Office of the AIAS. In honor of Bob, the family suggests donations to St. Theresa Building Fund or Capital Caring Hospice Service. The family of Bob Klancher wishes to thank the Capital Caring Hospice Service as well at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
