Robert Lewis Lowenbach's Obituary
Robert Lewis Lowenbach (Bobby), age 90, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 13, 2023. He was born on December 31, 1932, to Carrie Edmondson Hanger and Maurice Lowenbach in Leesburg, VA.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty Ellmore Lowenbach. He is remembered and loved by his children: Robert L. Lowenbach, Jr. (Lori), Laura Lowenbach (Steve), and J. Matthew Lowenbach (Susie), grandchildren: Carter Grant (Chelsie), Callie Kleffman (Hunter), Nina Lowenbach (Tyler), and Noah Lowenbach, and great grandchildren: Sara Grant, Casey and Elsie Kleffman.
After growing up in Leesburg, he graduated from Augusta Military Academy and upon graduation served in the US Army for two years in Columbus, Georgia. The couple was married in 1958 and shortly after Bobby began working for Loudoun Water Works (previously Loudoun County Sanitation Authority) where he was employed until he retired in 1995.
Bobby was a lifelong member of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Leesburg Lions club, and served on the Soldiers and Sailors Board. He was an honorary member of The Ladies Board of INOVA Loudoun Hospital.
Throughout his life he enjoyed trailering across the country with family and friends. His favorite hobbies were playing golf, cards, and handiwork. He was also a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and ice cream.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 15 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg from 6:00-8:00pm and services will be held on Saturday, December 16 at Leesburg Presbyterian Church at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
