ROBERT LEE POTTERFIELD IV's Obituary
ROBERT LEE POTTERFIELD IV, 52, of New Bern, North Carolina, formerly of Leesburg, VA, passed suddenly on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Rob was born August 20, 1970, at Loudoun Memorial Hospital, in Leesburg, Virginia. He was a graduate of Loudoun County High School, class of 1988. He attended Strayer Business School.
During senior beach week, Rob was introduced to the love of his life, and future wife of 30 years, Tammy Popish Potterfield.
After school, Rob began a career with Raytheon for over 25 years. In 2019, Rob and Tammy moved to New Bern, NC, and Rob obtained a position as a counselor for Easter Seals in New Bern.
He truly loved working with individuals with autism and was affectionately known as "Mr. Bobert".
In addition to spending time with his family, Rob had many hobbies including classic cars, motorcycles and he was a proud gun owner.
He leaves his family to cherish his memory including his wife Tammy, his beloved daughters, Joanna Radford and Sara Potterfield; his parents, Robert Lee Potterfield III and Mary Gulick Beach.
He also leaves his siblings: Andrew (Kelly Kerr) Potterfield, Christopher Potterfield, Miguel and Julia Beach, and Lydia (Howie) Thompson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: David and Carol Popish; and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 1 to 3 pm, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Funeral services to celebrate Rob's life will follow the visitation at 3 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be held privately by the family at a later date at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rob's memory to Easter Seals of North Carolina, 1722 Trent Blvd., New Bern, NC 28560.
