Robert "Bob" Ambrose Huber's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Ambrose Huber, age 84 of Leesburg, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Virginia.
Robert was born on Wednesday, September 29, 1926 in Cresson, PA. He was a son of the late Ambrose M. Huber and the late Edna Callahan. He was a graduate of Penn State University.
Robert served his country in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII.
Bob worked for US Geological Survey traveling the country as a surveyor before settling in the Northern Virginia offices to work as a cartographer, before retiring in 1982 as the Chief of Photogrammetry with 30 years of Federal Service. Upon retirement to his property he opened a small produce business where he was recognized locally for his strawberries during the peak of his business years.
He was active in the community as a member of Little League Baseball from 1968, serving over 25 years as a groundskeeper, coach, umpire and officer. In 2003, Little League Baseball and the Town of Leesburg honored him by dedicating a field in his name at Freedom Park.
He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Georgia Mae Bohrer Huber; his five children: Michael R. Huber and wife Shellie of Luray, VA; Patty Huber of Leesburg, VA, Danny Huber & wife Wendy of Leesburg, VA, John Huber & wife Carol of Leesburg, VA , James Huber of Leesburg, VA; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Sarah, Patrick, Aaron, Kyle, David, Molly, Tyler, Bryan, Wyatt, Nicholas, Brooke, and Corey; and 2 great grandchildren, Alexis and Camden.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
A Mass for Christian burial will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church located at 231 North King Street Leesburg, Virginia 20175. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
