Robert Herman Skidmore's Obituary
ROBERT HERMAN SKIDMORE, 85, Life long resident of Loudoun County died on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Skidmore was born October 4, 1923 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Montgomery and Parthenia Harding Skidmore. His first wife Margaret also predeceased him. Mr. Skidmore served his country in the Army during WWII in Germany. He was a Painting supervisor for 33 years with the National Park Service. Mr. Skidmore was involved in painting various federal buildings and national monuments before his retirement in September of 1985 including the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. He was past Chief of Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company and member of the Brunswick Eagles, Brunswick Moose and VFW Post #1177 in Leesburg.
Mr. Skidmore is survived by his second wife Lillian D. Skidmore of Richmond, VA; two sons: Robert H. Skidmore Jr. of Leesburg and Gary Skidmore of Hamilton; two daughters: Betty Davis of Purcellville and Pam Hill of Leesburg; four grandchildren: Jimmy, Maggie, Grant and Laura and his great granddaughter Peyton.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, Virginia on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 6-8pm. Services will follow at the funeral home at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 13, 2008 with Rev. William Lee officiating. Interment will be in Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Virginia.
