Robert John Travers' Obituary
ROBERT JOHN TRAVERS, 77, of Leisure World in Lansdowne, Virginia since 2003, formerly of Arlington, Virginia, died on Friday, August 20th 2010 in Lansdowne. His wife Katie Doris Travers preceded him in death. Mr. Travers was born August 9th 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Eldridge and Mildred Kuemmerle Travers. Mr. Travers served his country in the U.S. Army. His career was with the Department of Defense- Army Materiel Command in Northern Virginia. Mr. Travers retired in 2002 receiving a Meritorious Civilian Service Award after over 40 years with the Federal Government. Throughout his life he was a nationally ranked competitive table tennis champion. Mr. Travers attended services at The Chapel at Leisure World.
Mr. Travers is survived by his beloved two children: Robert Michael Travers of Asheville, NC, Susan Elizabeth Page of Broadlands, VA; four grandchildren: Daniel Page, Steven Page, Matthew Page, Michael Travers and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 29th 2010 from 3-5pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA. A memorial service will be held at the Leisure World auditorium on Monday, August 30th 2010 at 10am with Pastor Matt Sergent officiating. Graveside services will be held privately at Leesburg Union Cemetery following the memorial service.
