RODGER LEE CASEY
ASHBURN, Va. – Rodger Lee Casey, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 following a short illness.
Casey was born February 10, 1946 in Aurora, Ind., to Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Casey. Following his graduation from Aurora High School in 1964, Casey continued his education earning degrees in computers and engineering from Rose-Hulman University (formerly Rose Poly Institute of Technology) and Purdue University.
During his long, successful career, Casey worked with cell phone development for Bell Telephone Laboratories in Naperville, Ill., for the Advanced Technology Center of ITT Corp. in Shelton, Conn., and as an engineering consultant for NASA’s International Space Station for Interferometric, Inc., in Vienna, Va.
In later years, he consulted for Price Waterhouse in Bethesda, Md., worked in engineering services for TRW, and with the Center for Advance Aviation System Design at MITRE.
An avid ham radio enthusiast, Casey also enjoyed flying, sailing, and traveling.
Casey is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Harris) Casey, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1967, son Sean (Marie) Casey, son Ryan (Amy) Casey, and grandchildren Erin, Emma, William, Aidan, Ender, Anna, Alia, and Abigail.
