Roland Charles Loison's Obituary
In loving memory of Roland Charles Loison, 65, of Great Falls, Virginia, who passed away one year ago on March 22, 2020, after a brief hospitalization that resulted in a diagnosis of CNS lymphoma. Given that was the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, his wife Cindy was grateful to be by his side throughout his illness. His adult children, Annaick and Alex, were able to share final and loving words with him via real-time video.
Roland and Cindy met by fate in his home country of France in 1990 during Cindy’s 2-year work assignment in Paris. Cindy’s purse was stolen, and Roland was the police sergeant on duty who took the report. Subsequently, he joined Cindy in her transfer back to the U.S. where they began their 28-year marriage.
Roland happily devoted many years as a Sterling Youth Soccer Association coach and also as a Dominion High School Marching Band volunteer. He amazed his friends and family with his culinary abilities. His neighbors remember him as “the French Gardener,” often complimenting him on the beauty that he perpetuated through his landscaping wisdom.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, his daughter Annaick and her 4 children, his son Alex, 3 brothers, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Hubert and Yvonne Loison.
