Ronald L. Logerwell's Obituary
RONALD LYNN LOGERWELL, 79 of Leesburg, Virginia passed peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Leesburg, Virginia.
Ron was born on April 11,1946 at Southwest Community Hospital in Ohio. He was the son of
the late Franz Logerwell and the late Lorena Wilkerson Dalzell. Ron leaves many family members to cherish his memory including his son and daughter in law, Ken and Deanna Logerwell of Leesburg, VA, his daughter, Amy Hoyes of Grand Ledge, MI, brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Barb Logerwell; 6 grandchildren Ashton, Maddy, Nate, Jackson, Zach and Cami, and many other family members across the country.
Ron attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota and graduated at the top of his class in 1968 with both history and business degrees. He started his federal government career with NASA before moving to the EPA, the Atomic Energy Commission and ultimately the Department of Energy (DOE) for several decades. Ron was a decorated federal employee who rose through the ranks of many federal contracting organizations. One of his favorite assignments was being detailed to the White House under four administrations to provide support to the senior leadership at the DOE.
Upon retirement from the federal government, he founded Woodwater, Inc. in 1994. In this new season, he was able to consult for a wide range of clients doing business with the DOE. His consulting business thrived for the next twenty years through the relationships that he built with his clients and the resulting success they realized from his work. Government retirement also allowed Ron to spend more time at his home away from home - the golf course. Ron would tell stories about how contract deals could always be done easier and faster as you approached the 18th hole. Ron’s work ethic, which is instilled in his children, served as the foundation for not only a successful business, but also enabled him to maintain and foster lifelong relationships to this day. He was compassionate, caring and a stranger to no one. He lived and led both his personal and professional life with integrity and a genuine desire to do right by everyone he encountered.
During his early retirement years, Ron was thankful for the opportunity to visit over 100 countries and proud of his shot glass collection that showcased all of his travels. Travel is and will remain a cherished family tradition which Ken, Amy and their families will continue in his honor.
Retirement also allowed for even more time on the golf course. Many a day, Ron could be seen out and ready to tee off. You would see him with a group of long time friends or even a new friend he had just met at the club, who may have needed a “plus one”. Ron knew no strangers and was kind to, and a friend of, everyone. When not golfing, Ron was likely watching or talking about anything Washington sports. He was particularly an avid and loyal fan of the Washington Redskins. He was a season ticket holder, a collector of memorabilia spanning four decades and drove around with pride in his car, showcasing his HAIL2 license plate.
During the last chapter of his life, Ron enjoyed being just seven minutes away from Ken and his family. He was able to enjoy his grandsons, home cooked meals and outings with his family. Ron found tremendous joy in speaking daily to Amy, his granddaughters and his brother and family. He left this world surrounded by the love of those he cherished most.
