Roosevelt Harris, Jr.'s Obituary
Roosevelt Harris, Jr., 46 of Sterling, VA, died on Monday, October 20, 2008 in Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Roosevelt was born on August 8, 1962 in Leesburg, VA and was a son of the late Roosevelt Harris, Sr. and the late Geraldine Lee Harris. Roosevelt was raised in Sterling and attended Broad Run High School. He was a star football player until an auto accident in 1980. The accident left him paralyzed from the waste down.
After his life changing accident Roosevelt redirected his focus to body building. He traveled around the world confined to a wheel chair competing. He earned the title of the National Feather Weight Champion in 1984.
Roosevelt also took classes for Auto-Cad Drafting. He was presently employed by Henrys Wrecker Service for the last eight years, as a dispatcher.
Roosevelt will be remembered by many to have a magnetic charm. He was one who left a lasting impression on those he met.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four siblings, Stanley Harris, and sister-in-law: Jeannette of Leesburg, Vivian Ramzey and brother-in-law: Eduardo of Sterling, Kelly Harris of Reston, and Tina Harris of Sterling, VA. He is also survived by his special friend Kathleen Sibley of Clifton, VA, and his aunts: Dorothy Ann Nickens of Ashburn, VA, and Nancy Waters of Herndon, VA; 5 nephews and 4 nieces, plus a host of other family and friends.
Friends may call on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA 20175 from 9 am until the time of service at 11a.m. on Saturday.
Interment will follow in Tippett Hill Cemetery, Sterling, VA.
