ROSEMARIE HELEN ANDERSON's Obituary
ROSEMARIE HELEN ANDERSON, 71, of Sterling, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2023.
Rosemarie was born on February 8, 1952, in London, England, to loving parents James Elwin Murphy and Viola Sofia Murphy. The family spent their early years in Staten Island, NY relocating to Northern Virginia in 1962. Rosemarie graduated from Herndon High School in 1970.
Rosemarie’s professional career was focused on elementary education as a schoolteacher for the Village Green Day School in Great Falls and Nysmith School for the Gifted in Herndon, VA. After 20 years of teaching in the private sector, she utilized her background to educate her grandchildren before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rosemarie is predeceased by her husband John Frederick Anderson, her loving parents James E. Murphy and Viola S. Murphy, as well as her brother James E. Murphy and sister Laura M. Rainey. Rosemarie is survived by her daughter Bridget M. Anderson, son James F. Anderson, daughter-in-law Susana M Anderson and three grandchildren, Cortland Blaine Anderson, Sofia Reese Anderson, and Aidan Pierce Anderson, as well as sisters Diane Oroark, Viola Curtis, Charmaine Shelton, and Maryanne Andrews.
Rosemarie’s family, especially her grandchildren, were the most important part of her life. Nessa and Snoopy, her two Australian Shepherds, were her shadows, guardians, and faithful companions. Rosemarie loved nature, taking her dogs on daily walks and helping others. She could always be found working on her vegetable garden, tending to her yard or going on road trips with her grandchildren. Her loving guidance and giving nature were felt every day in everything that she did. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and those that knew her.
There will be a private Celebration of Life Ceremony for Rosemarie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Autism Society of America.
