ROSEMARY CLACHERTY's Obituary
ROSEMARY CLACHERTY, 83 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
She was born, July 2, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to Jack and Catherine McDonough.
Rosemary graduated from Catherine McAuley High School and completed a year of college before beginning her career working for EF Hutton on Wall Street. In 1959, she married Robert “Bob” Clacherty. In 1977, the family moved to Jefferson Valley, NY. An animal lover at heart, the city girl embraced “country living” by bringing home a menagerie of pets over the years. Rosemary proudly worked for the VA hospital in Montrose, NY as a Ward Administration Supervisor until 1996. In 1996, the family moved to Ashburn, Virginia. There she worked for several years as an office manager for Drs. Singh and Sandhu.
Faith and family were the most important parts of her life. Rosemary served in many volunteer roles at her parishes over the years. She and Bob struggled to grow their family and suffered many losses. Together they turned to Christ and serving others. They were active in the Cursillo community and served in prison ministry bringing their love of Christ to residents of Sing Sing in NY. It was there that they earned the nicknames RappinRose and DiscoDaddy. They opened their hearts and homes to anyone who needed it. Rosemary and Bob lived their faith every day and instilled those values into their daughters.
Her greatest joy came from being Mom and Nana to her seven grandchildren. Her family could always count on her for no-nonsense advice and brutal honesty when necessary. Her loyalty and support of her family and friends knew no bounds.
She was preceded in death by her newborn son, John Michael, four angel babies, her husband of 47 years, Bob, in 2006, and her daughter, Donna Caulfield in 2021.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Emanuel (Phil) of Ashburn, VA, and Mary Craig (SeAn) of St. Augustine, FL; and seven grandchildren, Michael Morel, Brigid Emanuel, Meghan Emanuel (fiancée William Graham), Aidan Emanuel, Sephie Craig, Mila Craig, and Liam Craig.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
A Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church located at 11900 Lawyers Road Reston, Virginia 20191.
Interment will be held in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
