Roy Frank Swartz's Obituary
Roy Frank Swartz, originally of Fredericksburg, VA and now of Leesburg, VA, passed away suddenly on April 9, 2018 at the age of fifty-one.
Roy was born in Japan to Charles B. Swartz and Kazuko Tamaya Swartz. He graduated from Courtland High School in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, received a BS in Finance from California State University, Sacramento, and a Masters in Management Information Systems from George Washington University (School of Business). Roy was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years Sharon Turner Swartz, brothers Virgil Swartz of Fairfax, Virginia, Matthew Swartz of Chesapeake, Virginia, sister Rachel Duff of Fredericksburg, Virginia, his father Charles, and numerous nieces, nephews, and young cousins that know him as ‘Uncle Roy’. He was preceded in death by his mother who rests in Denver, Colorado.
Roy was active in athletics as a youth, as a member of the all district Babe Ruth baseball team that participated in the 1985 state championship playoffs and earned eight varsity athletic letters at Courtland High School. He was a member of the 1982, 1983, and 1985 State Championship Football Teams there, as well as an All-District Basketball honoree. Roy enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his family and friends, and was an automotive and motorcycle enthusiast.
A celebration of Roy’s life and reception for family and friends is planned for 1:30 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Evergreen Church, 19619 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg, Virginia 20175.
