Ruth Ann Coleman's Obituary
Ruth Ann Coleman was born in Loudoun County, Virginia on October 23rd, 1951 to the late Rufus William Brent, and Josephine Evelyn Holland. Ruth Ann attended school in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Settling in Leesburg, Virginia to raise her children, she worked various jobs before starting her own daycare business in 1993. Known for her loving nature, Ruth Ann was always opening her home to any one in need of a home cooked meal and place to lay their head.
A longtime member of Providence Baptist Church in Leesburg, VA, she was a member of the senior choir and served as a deaconess. Her favorite gospel song was “It’s Working” by William Murphy.
In 1969, she met the man who would become the love of her life; Jimmy “Jimmy Mac” Coleman. Allowing their friendship to develop and grow stronger over time, they were united in marriage on March 15th, 2013.
Ruth Ann leaves to cherish her loving memory; her husband Jimmy Coleman, children Sharonette (John), Titania, Jimmy, Whitney, and Clarence; Her grandchildren Kirk, Kenyahn, Kenyada, Chykyesha, Kentero, Kobe, Leshelle, Kalil, Daeshawn, Leanna, Aliyah, Clarence Jr., and Derrick Jr.; her godchildren Patrice Chandler, Rachel Owens, and Kmya Payne; her siblings Darlene Holland, Viola Holland, Irene McMillian (Harvard), Rufus Holland, Maggie Morgan (Dennis), Kirk Holland, John Holland, Mildren “Ann” Daye, Gwen Whiting (Wilbur), Oscar Coleman Jr. (Hope) and, Bernard Coleman (Lena). One Uncle, Nelson Brent, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as close friends Gwendolyn Brown, Lena Coleman, Katherine Johnson, and Gwen Richardson.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, In-laws, Oscar and Rebecca Coleman; her brothers, George Holland, and Wallace Holland; uncles Theodore Brent and Robert Brent, aunt Frances Cox (William), nephew Elliott Holland, and best friend Sherry Owens.
Affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren, Ruth Ann’s motherly love reached not only her own children but countless children throughout Loudoun County. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services began at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church located at 205 Church Street S.E. Leesburg, Virginia 20175 with the Rev. Dr. Herbert C. Love officiating.
The family received friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church, 205 Church Street S.E., Leesburg, Virginia.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hamilton, VA.
