Shri Sampath H. Iyengar (H.S.S. Iyengar) passed away in his sleep at home on Sunday March 24, at the age of 96 years old. Sampath was the eldest son, second of six siblings, born in Holavanahalli, in Karnataka India. From humble b Read Obituary
It has been a pleasure to have known Uncle for nearly 50 years. He followed a daily routine and was always smiling. It was interesting to have a conversation with him. There are a lot of fond memories and one of those we will remember forever.
Back in October 1999 Mimi and I had just got engaged. Later that month we were invited to dinner at Raghu and Nandini’s house. At that party, Uncle asked us if we had decided on a Wedding date. We hadn’t decided on a date at that time. Uncle said he can help us with that. He took down our birthdates and said he will get back to us.
The very next week, he suggested two auspicious dates for our Wedding, one was in November 1999 and the other in February 2000. Since November was round the corner, we chose the February date. We started working on making it happen and eventually got married on the February date Uncle suggested. That was truly special and something we will remember forever. We will miss him and his endearing smile.

Sampathu mama our God father and a great inspiration to our entire family.From the child hood our mother Indira,only younger sister of Sampathu mama said after hearing the news "Sampathu I thought is immortal,Chiranjeevi, I never visualised that he will leave us".hearing this tears rolled .
Our bond with mama was different.He did kanyadanam right from Sister Indira and myself viji murli, sister Roopa and performed Dwaraki's marriage.
We will cherish his fond memories for ever.

My fond memories go back to 2012 May ,when sampath appa graced the occasion for saanvi’s event /event for family get together. His excellent memory for details regarding any subject amazed me. Either about astagramas of Karnataka or valcano of turkey, Mount Erciyes eruption his detail to subject would educate one & made me curious .
Sharing a room during the cruise I had a chance to witness a perfectly disciplined person, pleasant humble & kind soul,While we took cruise together with Jyothi & Mohan .
It has been my privilege to have known him, will miss his prompt phone call to wish me happy birthday!

What a Bhagyam to have known a great person with a beautiful soul who is none other than Sampath Iyengar.
We truly are very fortunate.
We have so many fondly memories.
Among all , about 10yrs ago when we were in west palm beach , Sampath Iyengar and Adiyen went for a long walk. As we finished the
3 mile round and came in front of the home he said to me “ you may go home now and I will finish 2 more miles and will return home”.
This was his focus strength and stamina at age 86 or 87.
He was simply amazing. His memory was incredible.
A big loss. We are all going to miss him.
