Shannon Lyn Philson's Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Shannon Lyn Philson, who left us on June 10th, 2025, after a courageous, year-long battle with lymphoma.
Shannon is survived and profoundly missed by her loving husband of 30 years, Steven; her sons, Conner and Eric; her mother, Lyn Laronde, and stepfather, James “Barney” Laronde; her brother, Patrick “Pat” Morphy; and her sister, Lauren “Laurie” Hajek. She was predeceased by her father, Stephen Morphy.
Born in Syracuse, NY, Shannon spent her early years in the Syracuse area, including Baldwinsville, and later in Little Rock, AR. After high school, she relocated to Lakeland, FL, with her mother and stepfather, where she met Steven. The two married in 1995 and began their life together in the Washington, DC area, where they would spend the next three decades building a life filled with love, friendship, and family.
In 2003, Shannon and Steven settled in Leesburg, VA, where they raised their children and became active members of the community. They built strong ties through volunteer work in local schools and neighborhoods. In 2020, they moved to Round Hill, VA.
Shannon spent her final years working at Ketterman's Jewelers, a place where she found great joy helping others celebrate life’s special moments. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and radiant smile made her beloved by both customers and colleagues.
Shannon always said her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to Conner and Eric, and she took immense pride in the kind, capable men they have become. A devoted lover of dachshunds, Shannon shared her life and home with several beloved pups over the years.
Shannon was truly loved by everyone who knew her. Her kindness, compassion, and warm spirit left a lasting impact on all whose lives she touched.
A visitation will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Leesburg, VA, on June 18th from 4:30 to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19th at 1:00 PM at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Purcellville, VA. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at youtube.com/@Saintfrancisparishpurcellville. Shannon will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Her warmth, generosity, and devotion to her family and friends will never be forgotten.
