Shirley Ann Blackwell's Obituary
SHIRLEY ANN BLACKWELL, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 30th 2012 in Leesburg, VA due to complications from Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Blackwell was born September 2nd 1935 in Takoma Park, MD to the late William Merchant, Sr. and the late Vivian Weaver Merchant. She was raised in Takoma Park and raised her family in Fulton, MD where she enjoyed babysitting neighborhood children for 30 years. Mrs. Blackwell loved animals, children and being with her family. Before moving to Leesburg in January 2011 to live with her daughter, she had retired to Vero Beach, FL for over 20 years with her late husband, Johnny S. Blackwell, Sr., whom she was married to for 50 ½ years.
Mrs. Blackwell is survived by her three beloved children: Johnny S. Blackwell, Jr. (Vicki) of Melbourne, FL, Linda S. Wenkel (Mike) of Leesburg, Richard A. Blackwell (Melina) of Spring Grove, PA; a sister: Elizabeth Merchant of Vero Beach; a brother: William Merchant, Jr. of Silver Spring, MD; four grandchildren: Erik, Ryan, Skye, Jacob, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Blackwell’s life will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit (908 Trailview Blvd., Suite 200, Leesburg, VA 20175) on Saturday, July 21st, from 4:30PM until 7:00PM.
