Shirley Ramsey's Obituary
SHIRLEY NEWMAN RAMSEY, 80, a resident of Leisure World, Lansdowne, Virginia, died on Saturday February 3, 2007 at home.
Mrs. Ramsey was born April 7, 1926 in Washington, DC to the late William Guird and Mable Tracey Newman. Her sister Audrey W. Pearson and her granddaughter Shelly Lynn Johnson also predeceased her. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Washington DC. Mrs. Ramsey worked with Washington Gas Light in Washington and then the Department of Justice Federal credit union in Washington until her retirement in the early 1970’s. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family in Ocean City, MD at there summer home “Jamaican Sun”. Mrs. Ramsey was active with Job’s Daughters and at one time, served as the Grand Guardian of the District of Columbia.
Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Mr. William S. Ramsey of Lansdowne, VA; one daughter: Audrey Tracey Thomas of Sierra Vista, AZ; a grandson: Ronald Gordon Johnson Jr. of Crownsville, Maryland and three great grandchildren: Tyler, Colten and Tara Raines of Cash, AZ. She was also a devoted aunt to Cheryl, Tom, Steven and Tracy Heitfield of Sterling, VA and Rebecca, Chris, and Luke Makowski of Leesburg, VA.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Cr. SE Leesburg, Virginia on Thursday February 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will follow at the funeral chapel on Friday February 16, 2007 at 11:00am with Pastor Sara Calvert officiating.
Interment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Rockville, Maryland.
