Siegurd W. Monroe's Obituary
Siegurd Waldemar Monroe, 77, of Leesburg, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Sieg was born on December 11, 1937, in Konigsberg, East Prussia and immigrated to the US when he was 12 years old. He was the son of the late Franz Grossman and Erika Streich Monroe Floro and adopted father George Isom Monroe.
He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and Bell Technical trade school and served his country in the National Guard.
Sieg spent his entire career in the construction industry employed with companies such as Grunley Walsh Construction for 30 years and most recently with John J. Kirlin for the past 12 years, as a chief estimator. Throughout his career, he assisted with numerous renovations of many high profile government buildings across Washington, DC and the US.
He moved to Lucketts, VA in 1974 where he and wife, Linda, built their family home and resided for 40 years and served as a founding member of the Lucketts Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda Jordan Monroe, children, Jennifer Naugle (Jim), Jessica Bellone (Matt), Darlene Russell (Billy) and Brian Monroe as well as 6 grandchildren. He also survived by his sisters Marolyn Monroe and Karen Tipton.
The family received visitors at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175 followed by a memorial service 1:00 PM. Afterwards, friends and family were welcomed to the home of Jennifer Naugle (address provided at the service).
