Mr. Stephen Apostol, Jr., age 77 of Ashburn, Virginia died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Virginia.
Stephen was born on Monday, September 11, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a son of the late Stephen Apostol and the late Anna Baltes Apostol.
Mr. Apostol served his country in the United States Naval Reserve. He was employed by the Federal Government as a Naval Engineer, working in the Brooklyn Ship Yard, and Crystal City,
until retiring in 1988. The Apostol’s moved to Ashburn 5 years ago to be close to family.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Anna Rita Apostol of Ashburn, VA; his son Stephen Apostol, III, of MD; his brother, George Apostol and sister-in-law: Fran of Seldon, Long Island, NY; son–in-law: Angelo Karagiorgis, and 2 grandchildren, Kristina & Nicole Karagiorgis, and other family and friends.
Mr. Apostol was predeceased by his daughter Carol Karagiorgis.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia.
A Mass for Christian burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church located at 21371 St. Theresa Lane Ashburn, Virginia 20147 with the Rev. Richard Guest officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
