Teddy Allen Wilson's Obituary
Teddy Allen Wilson, 55, of Leesburg, VA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Born on February 24, 1969, in Washington, DC, he was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry Alden Wilson, Sr. and Mary “Christine” Wilson (nee Ratliff).
He leaves his family to cherish his memory, including his wife of 27 years, Diane (“Dee Dee”) Lynne Herndon-Wilson, and their sons, Zachary James Wilson and Jacob Dickerson Wilson. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Wilson Lily, her husband Scot, his brother, Jerry Alden Wilson, Jr., his mother-in-law, Lynne Dickerson Herndon, his sisters-in-law, Catherine Herndon and Lisa Herndon Broyhill, and his many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Teddy graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Haymarket, in 1987. He went on to attend Radford University, where he played men’s soccer, was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. It was while playing soccer together at Radford, that Teddy and his wife Dee Dee met. Upon returning to Northern Virginia after college, Teddy continued to work at his family’s company, Pro-Type Industries, where he worked throughout high school and college. Dee Dee and Teddy married in 1996, and went on to have Zach in 1998, and Jake in 2001. Teddy was a long-time soccer and football coach, having coached both of their sons for many years.
Teddy was an avid sports enthusiast, being a steadfast fan of the Washington Commanders and Washington Capitals. He loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time on the beach. Teddy loved to cook for his family and friends, everything from Sunday football meals to Christmas morning breakfast. He loved music, especially live music. Teddy and Dee Dee would often travel with family and friends to attend concerts. Teddy was kind-hearted, hard-working, and always thought of others before himself. And, boy, did Teddy love his two dogs, Bella and Riggo!
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Teddy’s life at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, with Pastor Stephen Smith-Cobbs officiating.
Following the funeral, a celebration will be held at Spanky’s Shenanigans in Leesburg, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
