Terry Alan Franz
Mr. Terry Alan Franz, CHTP, CHAE, age 65, of Leesburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2012, in Farmville, VA. Terry was born on March 21, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma, son of the late Richard Conrad Franz and Elizabeth Brownell Day Franz.
Terry was an accomplished professional, who served as a financial controller with Westwood Country Club until retiring in 2007. He was a long-time member and former President of the Washington Metropolitan Club Controllers Chapter of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP).
Perhaps best known for his love of gardening, hiking and the outdoors, Terry also had a strong penchant for community service. He served as a lifetime member of Rapidan Camps and was active in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Terry was also very active in his church, and after he retired, he worked the polls on Election Day. Most recently, he was an active member of the Carver Senior Center in Purcellville, VA.
Surviving him are his devoted wife of 38 years, Kathleen Kinnaman Franz of Leesburg; his mother, Elizabeth D. Franz of Lake Ridge; and his three children: Kelly Franz Macoy (Ian) of Bluemont, Geoffrey Franz of Tysons Corner, and Brian Franz (Angela Anderson, fiancé) of Manassas. He also is survived by his sister, Susan Franz of Arlington, and two beloved granddaughters: Catherine Macoy and Shaelyn Franz.
Friends may call on Monday, January 16, 2012, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Deborah Parsons and Pastor Mike Emerson officiating.
