Tetsuo Yamamoto's Obituary
Tetsuo Yamamoto passed away at home on April 19, 2026. He was 92 years old. He was predeceased by his wife Hiroko Yamamoto and his granddaughter Anna Diehl and is survived by his children Michael Yamamoto and Arlene Diehl and son in-law Bob Diehl and grandson Adam Diehl.
Tetsuo was born in Stockton, California to George and Hisae Yamamoto. He was the youngest of six children and spent his early years in Stockton before being relocated to the Gila River Concentration Camp with his family. After the war he relocated to Pennsylvania where he attended high school and helped support the family business. Ted, as his friends knew him, excelled in school graduating as valedictorian of his high school class and started for the school wrestling team.
After high school, Ted joined the U.S. Army as a private and was stationed primarily in Germany after basic training. He often spoke proudly of his service.
After an honorable discharge, Ted returned to Pennsylvania and took over the farming aspects of the family business. With his brother Al, they ran the Yamamoto & Son’s business for many years selling flowers and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Ted met his wife Hiroko in Japan. They worked together in the family business and loved to travel in their free time taking long road trips across the United States in the winter months when farming activity was at its lowest.
In retirement, Ted moved to Virginia settling in both Richmond initially and then Purcellville living with his wife, son and daughter. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching sports and solving puzzles.
Throughout his life he was known for his kindness. Always smiling and helpful. Never critical or carping. He will be missed by all who knew him.
