Thomas Cinelli's Obituary
Thomas J. Cinelli, a technology manager for the U.S. Postal Service and a Loudoun County community leader, died at his home in Paeonian Springs, Va. Wednesday, Sept. 19 after an apparent heart attack. He was 56.
Cinelli joined the Washington headquarters of the Postal Service in 1992. He became program manager in 1994 of large information technology contracts.
At the same time, Cinelli was active in Loudoun public affairs.
As Chairman of the Paeonian Springs Village Council, Cinelli oversaw a lengthy process that designated the community a national historic district.
Cinelli was chief of the electoral board in the Catoctin District village of Waterford. He oversaw balloting for a number of local, state and national elections.
Cinelli was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on July 28, 1951. His family later moved to Framingham, Ma . He graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and later earned a Master of Science degree in computer information systems from Bentley College in Boston. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University in Boston.
While a master woodworker and sports car mechanic, Cinelli devoted most of his personal time to his wife and two sons.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Walters, and two sons, Will Sanford Cinelli, 19, a student at Northwestern University in Chicago, and Forest Carter Cinelli, 11, who attends Blue Ridge Middle School in Purcellville, Va. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Cinelli, and sister, Elaine Cinelli, of Framingham, Ma. His father, Anthony Cinelli, and his twin sister, Cecilia Trubiano, preceded him in death.
Arrangements are being handled by Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE 20175, Leesburg, VA, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM Saturday, September 22, 2007. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Interment to be held privately. Donations may be made in Mr. Cinelli''s memory towards Leukemia or to the Hamilton Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
