Thomas C Monahan's Obituary
Thomas Cameron Monahan, age 54, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sterling, Virginia, on April 25, 2013.
Tom was born in West Point, New York and lived in many places, both in the United States and the Far East, before his family settled in the Northern Virginia area in 1966. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1981, and remained an avid Tarheel fan. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Owen School at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1987. He worked as a Principal Information Systems Engineer at The MITRE Corporation for ten years and previously as a manager at Noblis (Mitretek) and Computer Sciences Corporation, and lead program controller at Orbital Sciences Corporation. He enjoyed music and attending concerts, and was a lover of animals and sports cars. His charming wit and ready smile will be long remembered by those who loved him.
Tom was the son of the late Flora Ellen Cameron Monahan and COL L. Paul Monahan Jr. He was a loving brother to Gail of Portland, Oregon and David of Spotsylvania, Virginia, step-son to Patricia Monahan of Lansdowne, Virginia, step-brother to Robin George of Reston, Virginia, Scott Trescott of San Carlos, Costa Rica, and Tanya Stinson of Dillwyn, Virginia. He was uncle to Alex, Julia, Zoe, Cassidy, Jeremy, Anna, Peter, and Colin. He leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11 AM.
