Thomas Donald Trachsel's Obituary
Obituary for Thomas Donald Trachsel May 29, 1974-December 6, 2018
With deep sadness, we announce that Thomas Donald Trachsel, age 44, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack in Ashburn, Virginia on December 6, 2018. Born on May 29, 1974 in Naples, Italy to Thomas A. Trachsel and Mary Spaulding Trachsel, he was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tom grew up with his two older sisters, BrendaLee Jones and Debra Kline Edwards. He had an affinity for animals and during his youth his pets included a ferret, an iguana, and a grumpy gray cat named Gus. Tom enjoyed being outdoors and spent time hiking and camping. He had a talent for cooking and later became an executive chef after completing his Culinary Arts degree from Johnson & Wales. “Chef Thomas” poured his creativity and heart into his career. As a young man, Tom fell head over heels in love and married Robin Kim. Robin gave Tom purpose and a vision for a wonderful new life together. Over the decades, they built a life grounded in faith and love. Their loving union brought forth their beloved son, Joshua, the joy of his life. Tom is remembered for his kind spirit, good humor, and devotion to those he cared about. He was easy-going and always fun to be with. Tom had a warm smile, a curious mind, and a generous heart. Though time and distance separated our family in later years, Tom remains cherished by his family and friends. The love and connection from those years remain a lasting and cherished part of our lives. On December 6, 2018, at the end of his journey, Tom was lovingly welcomed by his mother, Mary Spaulding Trachsel, Grandma Susie Neth, Grandpa Myron Neth, and his nephew, Doug Harrell. A private graveside visit and personal tribute has been held by his family, who honor his memory with gratitude for the time they had together.
Dedication:
Dedicated with love by his sisters, BrendaLee Jones and Debra Kline Edwards, who miss him so much and hold his memory in their hearts. We waited with enduring hope and loving hearts for the day we might all be reunited. You left us much too soon. Though that reunion never came in this life, we believe that God will reunite what life could not. Continue on, Brother, along the trail to the top of the mountain. We know that you did not walk alone, for in your pocket, a piece of our hearts went with you. We love you always.
