Tomasa De La Luz Lopez, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on December 12, 2025, at the remarkable age of 104.
Affectionately known as Abuelita Luz to family and friends, she led a life rich in love, overcoming challenges with a resilient spirit.
Born in Nicaragua in the 1920s, she immigrated to the United States with her daughter (Rosa) and granddaughter (Wendy), where she spent the majority of her life.
Luz's unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for nurturing others defined her legacy.
Her talents shone through her passions for sewing, cooking, and caring for those around her. Luz was known for her wisdom, kindness, and witty humor. She believed in the power of love and left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Rosa Quintana, who lovingly cared for her throughout her life. She is also survived by her daughter, Raphael Quintana, and her wonderful grandchildren: Wendy, Cindy, Lucy, Les, and Arlene. Each of us carries a piece of her spirit in our hearts.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm at the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Chapel of Immaculate Conception 231 N. King Street, Leesburg, Virginia, 20176.
