VERNITA L. JACKSON's Obituary
Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what’s to be, a resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way. We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay….
Vernita Lynn Jackson (Nita) was born to the late Mervin and Jean Jackson on April 23, 1958, and departed this life on August 25, 2022. She is survived by her son Anthony Jackson, Ashburn VA, Teresa Brooks (sister) Herndon, VA, Vernith Brooks(Nephew) Reston, VA and Aethena Brooks (Great niece) Washington, DC and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and loving friends.
Affectionately known as Nita she made friends with every person she met.
Nita served 35 years with the Department of Justice, US Marshals Service her extensive knowledge and expertise benefited many departments and divisions. Those who had the pleasure to work with her knew her to be a passionate, dedicated and a highly resourceful employee. But above all, she was fun. Quite the social butterfly.
Nita loved sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens, eating crabs, drinking sweet tea and her beagles; Bret and Brat. Although she would never admit it she loved to drive and occasionally she became a GPS navigator. Nita could drive any size vehicle. If given the chance, she probably could maneuver an 18 wheeler in any city or state and not get lost. Always contributing her keen sense of direction to her grandfather (Gus Stinger) or as she affectional called him Gum Gum.
Nita loved calling friends saying ‘wanna ride, wanna go, be ready, if not here, when I am ready I’m rolling out.” “See you later bye” what fun was had by all who arrived on time.
Friends and family traveled throughout the day from city to city and even states. Yes there were stops to eat or for any yard sale posted along the way. Yes, like her mother she loved yard sales. But most of all she loved being with family and friends.
In remembering Nita, remember joy, fun and laughter. Her life was full, she savored much. Good Friends, Good Times. She lived, She loved, She gave her all. Nita lived for what the day had to offer, not for what yesterday had taken away.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm, on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 1 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Fund or the Diabetes Association.
