My Dad, Herb. has fond memories of Bobby's crabhouse and knowing Vernon, Betty and June through the years. My brother, Larry, has great memories of Vernon's truck. I treasure the memories of being on the boat with Aunt Betty and Uncle Vernon, the summer nights in VA many years ago with Peggy, Linda and Ann - evenings filled with fun and fireflies. A long time ago (I was 15), Uncle Vernon and I got into a hilarious silly debate about whether doves and pigeons are related birds - me saying no, him saying yes and this silliness went on for hours. Of course, he was right, but it was so much fun in the moment. I think Uncle Vernon really knew how to live in the moment whether amongst his family or friends. I think he might have liked it if we remember that when we think of him and look for that little bit of silliness, laughter or happiness in the moment too.

I knew Vernon only slightly. I'd meet him in the lobby of our building or in the elevator and he always had the best smile when we greeted each other. He seemed to be a man who loved life. Elizabeth and his entire family have my deepest sympathy. Caroline Stevens
What I remember most of Vernon was his smile. He was always smiling and made everyone around him feel comfortable. My family enjoyed several Fourth of July's at his home. We always laughed and had a wonderful time even after killing a patch of grass during a display of fireworks. I enjoyed every moment with this sweet man. Lovingly, Margie Evans
