Victor Jerome Howe's Obituary
Victor Jerome Howe, 57, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Virginia, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Born Tuesday, April 13, 1954, in New York City, he was the younger son of the late John Howe and the late Ida James Howe. Victor earned a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and received his Masters in Business Administration and Program Management from West Coast University in Anaheim, California.
At the time of his death, Victor served as the Automated People Mover Program Manager at Washington Dulles International Airport. Prior to his position at Dulles, Victor was the AirTrain Manager at San Francisco International Airport, and the Automated Ground Transportation People Mover System Manager at Denver International Airport. Victor also worked for Rockwell International in the Space Shuttle Program, providing engineering design for the 1993 Space Shuttle Endeavor mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. In 1990, Victor was granted a patent for a Combined LCD Television Receiver and Video Cassette Player, a precursor to the entertainment systems now widely used in the airline industry.
He was predeceased by his older brother, Jon Howe (1997). Victor is survived by his loving wife and partner of 20 years, Luz Cofresí-Howe of Leesburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law Brigido and Emma Cofresí, Senior; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Raquel Rooney-Pirelli and Michael Pirelli, Jr.; brother-in-law Brigido Cofresí, Jr.; niece Danielle and nephews Joseph and Brigido; aunts Virginia Forster and Mildred Williams; uncle Edward James; cousins James and Godelieve Bartley; cousin Jossleyn Bartley; many other relatives and countless friends too numerous to mention.
Friends may gather for a time of sharing on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with a brief memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm.
After the memorial service, all are invited for light refreshments and to raise a glass in Victor’s memory at a Leesburg location to be determined.
