Vincent Aloysius Eagan's Obituary
VINCENT ALOYSIUS EAGAN, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 20th 2012 in Lansdowne, Virginia. Mr. Eagan was born January 28th 1928 in Far Rockaway, NY to the late Dr. Vincent A. Eagan and Marion O'Shea Eagan.
He grew up in Far Rockaway and loved the beach where he worked as a lifeguard for New York City and for beach clubs along the peninsula.
He enlisted in the Army in 1946 which was at the end of WWII serving in Japan. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1948 and attended Columbia University. He transferred to the University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA and MA in Far Eastern Area Studies graduating in 1955.
He was in the Naval Reserves where he achieved the rank of LCDR.
Mr. Eagan worked with Naval Investigative Service as a Special Agent, the U.S. Customs Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
During his 32 years with the federal government he was able to travel the world - living in Japan, Mexico, El Paso, Texas, and Thailand. After retiring, he accompanied his wife Mary to Austria, Sweden and Germany. In 2004, they returned to their home in Reston, Virginia where they remained until 2007 when they relocated to Lansdowne, Virginia.
Mr. Eagan loved traveling, listening to classical music, animals, reading, sailing and scuba diving. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed meeting new people.
Mr. Eagan is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years: Mary Ann Eagan; three daughters: Jeanne, Sue, and Kim; a sister: Jane; close nieces and nephews: Janie, Herb,Jr.(deceased), Bobby, Nancy, Beth, Julie and Michelle; five grandchildren: Chelsea, Morganne, Delaney, Kameryn and Hayley; brother-in-law John and two sisters-in-law Laura and Kathy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with military honors.
