Violet Echols' Obituary
VIOLET BARNWELL ECHOLS, 88, a life long resident of New York City before moving to Sterling, Virginia in 1997 to be closer to her daughter died on Tuesday September 5, 2006 at Sunrise of Reston, VA.
Mrs. Echols is survived by her beloved daughter: Karen and husband Jay Costner of Sterling, VA; two grandchildren: Jason and wife Monica Costner of Baltimore, MD, Kim and husband Aaron Costner Moore of Alexandria, VA; one great granddaughter: Lyric Costner and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at St. Mark the Evangelist Church 65 W. 138th Street, New York, NY. Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton NY.
Mrs. Echols was born January 9, 1918 in New York City to the late Robert and Gracia Creighton Barnwell. In addition to her parents her husband Edward William Echols predeceased her in 1990. She was a personnel specialist with the IRS before retiring in 1973. Mrs. Echols enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with her family.
