William "Bill" Peter Volk's Obituary
WILLIAM "Bill” PETER VOLK, 81 of Leesburg, Virginia passed on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Ashleigh at Lansdowne in Leesburg, Virginia.
Born Saturday, November 20, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Joseph Volk and the late Irene Rabianski Volk.
A graduate of University of St. Thomas with a BA in political science; Bill furthered his education with a master’s degree in international relations from Purdue University.
While a student at St. Thomas he met his future wife Louise. The couple dated for 3 years in college before marrying afterwards. The family moved to Vienna, VA in 1968 where Bill was employed by the CIA as a research analyst. He retired from government work after 30 years of service and spent some of his time as a Real Estate agent.
He was a devoted husband, dad and grandfather (affectionately referred to as “Pawee” by the grandchildren). Bill loved to ski and travel often booking many trips to Europe. His favorite way to travel was with no itinerary; just to rent a car and drive from Austria and end up in Italy. He also took several trips to the Soviet Union. Most recently he enjoyed tropical climates including Aruba and the Bahamas. He loved boating and spending time with his family and grandchildren on the water.
Bill leaves his family to cherish his memory, including his wife Louise M. Volk, his son Joe and his wife Caeli Volk, his son Mike Volk, and Liz McKenna, and six grandchildren: Lauren, Max, Bini, Anthony, Nick, and Quin. He also leaves a brother, Norman Volk.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will begin after the visitation at 10:00 am.
Interment willl follow in St. John's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's memory to Loudoun Hunger Relief or to Unicef.
